  1. The symbolism of the garden, suitcase and the ocean makes it a different book and engages the person who reads the book.
The relationship of the characters makes it very real and as if it were a true story, the emotions are very real demonstrated in the book, like one person hates the other because that person’s mother saved another and ended up dying.
However, the book seems like an exploration of the human spirit.

  2. In The Garden is a touching and unforgettable story about love, loss, and the choices we make. I really recommend the book because I liked that it was able to help us understand that choosing the right person for you is not rushing into the person you think is right for yourself, but having to understand how the person brings values to you in positive ways like Stevenson did.

  3. The most remarkable thing about the book, is how the different situations in the story develop the feelings between Guerline and Stevenson. Also I like that it shows that Stevenson has a deep love for Guerline and no one was like her, in his eyes

  4. What I love about the book was Stevenson and Guerline got together at the end of the book what I also loved about it was Papa told so many great stories he told how much he loved his stories and spending it with the neighbors. That’s how much I love to book.

  5. I like the way that the author make the reader read more and more with all the details. I like the surprise that it give to us and the drama between the characters

  6. I love In the Garden because the novel is about a drama and a love story. Guerline is my favorite character in the novel because of her personality, attitude, and the way she made her decisions. Definitely, Stevenson is the man for Guerline. He is a gentleman, kind, and friendly. Papa had a good relationship with him, and that’s why Stevenson is a good man. Despite the death of her dad, Ti Manmi and Guerline have a great relationship. The novel teaches me that, no matter the circumstances, life always improves.

  7. What I like about this book is how Stevenson always remains loyal to Guerline, even though they have been apart for ten years. When they meet again, he still remembers her preferences, such as her favorite food and drinks, showing that he has never forgotten her. He expresses his feelings with the words: “Haiti is my earth, and Guerline is my ocean.” This statement reveals that just as his homeland is very important to him, Guerline also holds a special place in his heart. His words reflect his loyalty and deep affection, unchanged despite the distance.

  8. I really enjoyed the way In the Garden explores the complexities of human relationships through such vivid imagery and emotional depth. The characters felt real and their struggles relatable, making it hard to put the book down. It’s a beautiful reminder of how nature and human resilience are deeply interconnected

  9. I really liked this book, it’s a book that really delves into the characters and different generations of Guerline’s family

  10. I think the book was really good, I liked the suspense that it has. Though Papa’s death took me by surprise, I liked how the story ended with Guerline and Stevenson together, great book.

  11. In The Garden is a story I will never forget, the book starts off exciting then it takes a turn. The book was a meaningful book because the main part was Guerline finding the perfect one, and she did. This book has a emotional roller coaster, but the main part I love was how Guerline was close with her family.

  12. I really liked the drama and the indecision of the choice of guerline between watson and stevenson, I believe this makes the story more exciting, and with that taking all the story through their pasts and the relationship between their families.

  13. I liked from book that shows how different types of men that can be in a relationship. It also speaks of very specific things of Haitian culture, so it allows us to understand several of their actions. I also liked the way in which the novel transmits emotions to its readers since it is usually a story based on real events and it is easy for many to feel identified.

  15. Well, I liked many things about the book in the garden, the plot of the story, I really liked the conflict that existed between Watson and Stevenson for the love of Guerline, there was always that spark in the story and also its touch of sadness when dad dies , the ocean lover, It was a good ending to end the story, but I feel like there had to be a second book about the garden because I feel like more could be gotten out of the story. I really liked the book and it was interesting to learn about Haiti.

  16. while reading the book In the garden. I quite like the depth of the book. Although the story is quite simple, it focuses on psychological analysis of the characters and each person’s inner stories. and i quite like the beautiful love story between guerline and stevenson. he always gives love to only one person, gueirline, and he compares it to his ocean

  17. I liked the end of the book, when Guerline sees Stevenson sitting under the flamboyant tree, I thought it was a really cool scene and for me one of the best in the book. It showed the love they have for each other, and that from the beginning they loved each other but obstacles kept them apart for a long time.

  18. What I loved most about this book were the love dilemmas between the characters and the dilemmas that happened to their parents in the past as well. The way the love between Guerline and Stevenson is addressed really moves me because of the distance in time and space that they had to overcome and all the people who tried to harm them. I love romantic stories, even more so when the dilemmas present in love are addressed, because it shows what true reality is like, because no love story is perfect. My favorite verse in the novel is when Stevenson says “Haiti is my earth and Guerline is my ocean.” This verse really touches me!

  19. About the book “In The Garden” I thought it an interesting work, I liked the development of the story and the characters. When I started reading I was distracted because I thought the story unfolded slowly and was very slow, the story became more and more convincing.
The ideas proposed in the book are incredible, with perspectives that I didn’t imagine were possible.
If I were to rate it on a scale of 0 to 10, I would give it an 8, just for the delay in getting involved with the book.

  20. When reading this book, we are given the feelings of the protagonist, the feeling of love and sadness that surround her. When we see how she grows and has to make difficult decisions in her life, the same thing happens to us when we have to choose what is best for us.

  21. I loved the storyline in Nan Jaden An, especially the rivalry between Watson and Stevenson for Guerline’s love. Papa’s death added a bittersweet note, and while the ending was fitting, I feel the story had potential for a sequel. It was also fascinating to learn about Haiti.

  22. I just wanna say the book was so good itself and it was just so exciting to read. The book was just had so many twist in it and was just so flabbergasting while reading it. My favorite part of the book is when Guerline finally decided to move in with Stevenson and Mrs.Benoit flew to a different state so she can be at peace.

  23. I mainly love the plot twists that were made in the story, and how we get to read why Watson acts the way he acts, and love triangles with romance mixed in. Hypothetically, it was a good book.

    • Not to mention the true understanding of Watsons feelings of having Stevenson around and his jealous demeanor.

  24. I read this book and I’m so happy about that this is a wonderful story, I liked how the principal character struggled with her decision to make a final one that can surprise a lot of us . Everything is important and u need to read until the last page . Can’t wait to read the next book .

  35. The novel In the Garden tells a touching love story and a meaningful play, which I find particularly appealing. Guerline is the character I admire the most, not only because of her appearance but also because of her decisive personality and strong attitude. Stevenson, a gentleman who is kind and respectful, is truly the right man for her. He is highly regarded by Guerline’s father, Papa, which reflects his good character. Even though her father has passed away, the bond between Ti Manmi and Guerline remains strong. The novel teaches me that, regardless of the circumstances, life can always improve if we persevere.

I loved how Guerline, Stevenson, and Watson’s relationships felt so real and complex. The way Stevenson and Watson both loved Guerline, but only one of them captured her heart, created so much tension and kept me hooked. The jealousy and heartbreak made it hard to put down, and the garden setting added a beautiful, almost magical atmosphere to the story. It’s a perfect mix of romance and drama

  38. The story tell us the way that the love it’s more hard in the life , guerline and stevenson show this with the all problems that had in there lifes.

  39. “In the Garden” is a very entertaining book which caught me for its story, for the themes that are touched on. The loving threesome between Guerline, Stevenson and Watson, left you eager to know who was going to end up with, in addition to their parents, and how they indirectly came to influence the decisions and actions of these three boys.

  40. I thoroughly enjoyed the book because it narrates the journey of a young woman in Haiti as she reconnects with her childhood love, despite being engaged to a mutual friend. The novel explores themes such as love, identity, and the profound impact of past experiences. As part of a series, it makes a meaningful contribution to Haitian literature by offering a rich portrayal of the culture and emotional depth of its characters.

  41. I really liked Stevenson’s story, and how happy he is when he returns to Haiti, after flashbacks of the Pope like he had at the end of the book about the dolphin, the fruit sellers, Ti Manmi’s romantic story and how everything connects with the Garden
