  8. This novel has shown me what it means to stick as a family regardless of mistakes and made in the past and to never let your past define your future or presence. Love has been displayed as something that covers the past and erases it to make something new.

  11. Honestly, this book really got to me. I started it thinking it would just be a simple story, but it pulled me in completely. After Maggie lost her husband, I felt her pain so deeply. It was like she was just surviving, not living until she went to stay with her sister Bola. That house, full of love and chaos, kind of brought her back to life little by little.

What really touched me was how Maggie and James got closer. It wasn’t rushed or overly dramatic. It felt real two people with broken pasts finding comfort in each other. I was rooting for them the whole time! And the way James expressed himself (or struggled to, honestly) made him feel so human. You could tell he cared deeply, even if he didn’t always have the words.

There were some heavy moments too like Bola’s past with André coming back and Thomas reacting in church. It showed how trauma doesn’t just go away but also how love and support can help you face it. And the whole thing with Roseline’s identity? Wild.

In the end, it’s a story about healing, family, second chances, and quiet love that grows when you least expect it. I didn’t expect to connect with it so much, but I really did.
